2026 Karlshamn Boat Show Pop-up Exhibition

This past weekend it was time for one of southern Sweden’s largest boat shows in Karlshamn. Visitors were drooling over all the beautiful boats on display, enjoying their time with water sports and generally basking in the incredible summer weather, and I tested the waters with arranging my own little pop-up exhibition of my photography, just to see if there was any interest in my photography art. Given the context, my obvious focus was on the nautical side, including landscape photos from the fantastic Swedish archipelago.

I spent the better part of a week rushing to prepare for the event, sourcing material, figuring out how I would display my art, and generally obsessing over the “unknown unknowns” that I knew I’d have to deal with on the day. I guess that kind of obsession is useful in trying to anticipate everything that can go wrong, because I am relieved to say only like three or four things went haywire!

It was an experiment, and I am happy to report that not only was there a lot of people browsing my images in my booth and giving me compliments to the extent of making me blush, but several people found the images beautiful enough that they wanted them on their own walls!

I made several sales, and while that was extremely rewarding, the biggest take-away for me is still how many people appreciated my photographs. We all say that we create for our own sake, but at the same time obviously those creations are made to be shared with people. And the reception during this event was above anything I could have hoped for.

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by and took time out of your day to view my work, and especially to those of you who purchased images from me! See you next year!
